My STORY: A Journey Begins With One Step
I started this blog to share some interesting places and things I have been able to do.
From the Beginning of My Time
I was born in the small island town of Anacortes in Washington state. Where I became an Eagle Scout and overall normal child, my brother got the privilege of being the firstborn, where my parents learned to parent. The second born has its perks. I played many sports like Track, tennis, basketball, and soccer growing up. Living on an island involves boating and the water quite a lot, as you can guess. My family did not own a boat, but we would go on many trips on the ferries and on friends boat. We would stay on other islands and camp out on the beach, a very nice place for people looking to get away in the Northwest. As all kids, I did many Boy Scout functions until I got to High school, which is when I decided it was not cool anymore.
In high school, I decided I wanted to go to a Military Academy, and I worked my pants off to get there. I got an appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. At school, I met many people who let me do things I would have never done in Washington. I got to hunt multiple times in Massachusetts and managed to get many ducks, including mallards and gray ducks. It was the first time I had ever hunted, and remains something I enjoy doing. I think over Under Shotguns are the baddest. Over my 4 years at school I did one year working on ships as a cadet, I went to many countries while on these ships. I went to Vietnam, Philippines and Japan to Jordan, Malta and Greece. In Jordan, I got to go to Petra and the Dead Sea. In Japan, I went to Nagasaki and Tokyo. I got to experience things because of the profession I chose that many other only dream of. I now have a Coast Guard license and I sail on ships full time. Furthermore, I also work for a company that designs ships in Wisconsin, so holler at me if you are in Marionette.
I chose to start my blog because of the passion I have for being an outdoors man and a computer nerd, and if I am being honest it seems everyone is doing one of these nowadays, and I wanted to learn the craft. I am currently in a Masters program to become an electrical engineer. Likewise, I hope my story and my posts help y’all make a decision with all the categories this site will have to offer.
So, if you have any questions don’t be afraid to email me, or drop suggestions if you want to see certain information. In the end this is to help you and me grow together in our shared experiences.
